A recent article written by Children’s Health Defense found on the Collective Evolution website, reports on the new California SB 276 law impacting Californians. Conflicting interests in the medical field are nothing new; more commonly known and well-publicized abuse in mal-prescription of opioids or the abuse in excessive, inaccurate use of medical procedures for more money come to mind, rarely does standard vaccinations fall into this equation. A new law passed stands to change that. The manner in which doctors, in California, are able to medically bill for vaccinations has changed of which encourages excessive rather than appropriate use. The potential impact of the new legislation can be far reaching, as health insurance companies look to bare the brunt of the cost, but inevitably, may lead to an increase in the cost for health insurance for all of us.

As varying health insurance plans offer different coverage as to what they will and will not cover, they almost all have 100% vaccine coverage. Whereas as previously, regardless of how many vaccines were provided, only one billing was allotted for a standard price of one vaccination, the new law permits billing for each and all vaccinations provided, which allows for far more charges and opens the possibilities to over use. The accumulative effect of multiple vaccines is still not fully understood and possible links to numerous child birth and health issues are still being investigated. Mal practice in almost all medical aspects has potential liabilities and consequences; however, vaccines fall under a special medical category that protect the prescribing doctor should any complications occur from any and all vaccinations, which can furtherly compromise the integrity of proper use, as doctors may proceed with impunity.
